For metal heads death metal is the icing on the cake. The most brutal in your face bone crushing music that anyone could possibly listen to. The majority of death metal bands concentrate very hard on trying to be more extreme than the next guy. Unfortunaley death metal in general is notiorious for being straight up satanic. Mass numbers of kids all over the world are being brainwashed by metal to think that it is cool and hip to denounce God and idolize the devil. Thankfully God has put it into the hearts of a few brave soldiers to put up a fight for todays youth and take back death metal.
The first christian death metal band I ever listened to was Mortification. For years I had faught struggles with my musical preference vs my faith. I had finally found music that I could enjoy with a clean consionce. Recently there has been alot of christian death metal bands. I am going to try and give you a review of some of my favorites.
Impending Doom is hands down the most brutal christian death metal I have ever heard. They have an unmistakable jaw dropping sound that will make you crap your pants. Brook Reeves on the vocals is so amazing, his pig squeels and growls will send chills down your spine. Staying true to thier faith, they whole heartedly represent the gospal and through the power of the lord they are dominating the scene.
Another premier christian death metal band is With Blood Comes Cleansing. This band is here to stay. This band has delivered some of the most brutal and catchy stuff I have ever heard. This band not only delivers the goods, but thier latest album "Horror" has taken it to a whole new level. It is easily one of my favorite albums of all time.
I have grown very fond of a band called Earth From Above. In thier first attempt "Partakers EP" has really blown me away. It hits you like a ton of bricks. It is just so ridiculously brutal. Not to mention the sweep action. I am exited to see what they will come up with next.

Alright, check out Woe of Tyrants. They will dump on anything you got. They don't claim to label themselves christian but the lyrics speek for themselves. There is no better band out right now. Super sweepy speed sword power metal mixed with some nile egypt shiz. Anyway, also if you are into black metal but can't agree with the lyrics check out Crimson Moonlight. They are a cross between immortal and early dimmu. Or extol they are another one, they have thier own sound altogether. For Today is coming out with new album. Serpent Servant was awsome, reminds me of slipknots first album.

It's super funny how people try and act all hard and know it all on the internet. I stick to my statement Woe of Tyrants will straight put your baby metal to shame. Devil Driver? That's prabably on the macy's soundtrack. This site is for Christian Death Metal. Us God fearing folks have less options in terms of metal but the options we have are better because they are from the spirit and from the heart. Why don't you try and listen to some of these bands instead of bashing them. You got time to come on here, go to myspace and listen for yourself. All the death metal bands you listed are super weak even for secular shit. I really hate giving any sort of glory to people that sold themselves to Satan but you claim to be the death metal guru and failed to mention necrophagis or dying fetus. Anyway, the day is coming for the Lord's wrath and all those that have baught into the Hell is cool brainwash will pay the price of eternal life. All so they can have a bad boy james dean image. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

seriously guys! why are you getting so worked up over this? we are not here for condemning but for sharing our beliefs! who is going to take you seriously as a christian if you are contradicting your beliefs with this. "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." what does that show people when you not only cuss at them as if you were part of this world (which you are called to be apart from but in) but also in the fact that you are showing them you dont even follow the golden rule. "love your neighbor as yourself" this is getting rediculous that people are getting so angered over music.
I love the bands you have listed above, ie Woe of Tyrants, Impending Doom and such, but they are not Death Metal. They are hard core/death core. But I do love them. I am a concert promoter and it is so hard to explain the difference, but they are not it. Look up Extol, Broken Flesh, and Abolishment.
I love Death metal Music. I'm a Christian. I still listen to Slipknot and Mudvayne etc. I agree totally with James. Just because I listen to a song about murders and suicide, doesn't mean that I will go out and go on a killing spree. And if someone that listens to deathmetal and goes out and does that, Is an idiot. People that burn churches, and worship Satan do so because they want to, not because Deathmetal "Brainwashes them". that's a complete load of garbage. I prefer Death Metal to Christian Deathmetal because it sounds a lot better and cooler. That's why a lot of people prefer it over Christain death metal. If Christian Death Metal sounded better then death metal, then I wouldn't listen to Death Metal nearly as much. It's about what sounds good. My family thinks that I'm a satonist because I play Impending Doom. I'm like "no it's Christain Death Metal" but they don't believe me. I show them the Lyrics and everything, but they still don't believe me. they're like "It sounds demonic". Duhh!!!! It's "Christian DEATH metal" it's supposed to sound really hard core, but still godly. people aren't smart lol. but anyway, I'd listen to Slipknot over Demon Hunter, or any other Christian Death Metal band except Impending doom

p.s. stop swearing if you claim to be a christian!that title itself is a huge responsibility to take! we are to act in love and let God purify us through the teachings of his grace! and yes metal can be used as a vessel for God to work in other peoples lives...however,i feel we are to be receptive to worship genre as well!

I went to a cathlic school for 6 years(i still believe in god) i got alot of shit for my teachers and students.I mean some christian band r good but the one i like is impending doom, but i also like hatebreed, Diecast, Shadows Fall, All That Remains, Thy Will Be Done,Soilwork, winds of plague.

"death" is god of death or of life? i like to call this new godly metal. Life Metal.. and i think its great that their doing this god bless their souls and as for the person who made this sight. i think this is a great way to compete with satin and his "slipknot" or "children of bodem" or even the ones who stole our word and made it crap "LambOfGod".. which i grew to adore all until i realised.. slipknot burned the penagram in pyschocial video. The difference between death metal and deathcore is huge! 99% of the bands listed above are deathcore. I'm looking for something that sounds like necrophagist, psycroptic, and arsis. All are true death metal and have real talent in what they do. A band that has really touched my heart is vehemence. They have the perfect soul busting sound that should be assosiated with christian death metal. The problem is they hate and denounce God. Lucifer was an angel of music and because of this a lot of the music that denounces God is really awesome. The world needs true christian death metal with no breakdowns and no scene.

Actually, Antestor was like the first true black metal bands mr spellcheck and we are already reclaiming lost souls through christian metal. Well, spelling gives a general view of the level of an article. But actually I was more referring to some of the comments.
Anyway, I'm not that sceptic. It's quite a bit removed from my views but I don't care that much. I assume that most of you guys have a quite relaxed view anyway (not going to church from what I see is one point). Otherwise it would almost be impossible to even be able to get into this music I suppose.

OMG...I just tried to listen to that band Impending Doom! ohh...damn. I thought Christians didn't believe in abortion? B/c that's what that is. awful. screamo, annoying music. Couldn't even get a message out of it if I tried. I grew up in a Christian house...the hardest thing I listened to music wise (allowable by parents) was Petra. lol. That was about the time I got into Metallica. If it wasn't for Metallica, I wouldn't be a death metal fan. And if it wasn't for metal, I'd be dead. Music keeps me alive. But Christians trying to make death metal is a oxymoron. and half of those death metal bands u pple mentioned aren't death metal..grindcore. I like the more melodic metal. Amon Amarth, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Kalmah, Dark Tranquility are a few I like. I even like folk metal like Eluveitie and Esiferum. Europe has way better metal than American. Thanks but I will stick with my metal and my bands. The Christian Dimmu Borgir (not really a fan) doesn't exist. and don't even try it.
Since finding impending doom I have found a lot more bands. I am a fairly new believer, so that was the first band I got into cause I saw them with at a with blood comes cleansing show and thier old stuff was hard as nails. Yes the christian Dimmu does exist! It's called Crimson Moonlight. Ok, here is christianity's answere to all your favorite bands. Metalica=Megadeth (way better also!) Necrophagis=Sympathy (also better cause it's got keys) Eluveity=Illuminadi or Ecthirion both good bands Behemeth=A hill to die upon Dying Fetus=Crimson Thorn In Flames=With faith or flames (not new in flames wich is so weak!) Dark Throne=Antestor Children of Bodom= Dark lay still. Also on the play list lately would be the most folk metal band ever called Holy Blood, Destroyer of Lie, Last Battle, Extol, I built the Cross, Mortification, and if you listen to Ensiferum listen to the song blood is the price of glory and that is just as christian as aything. Okay, I would like to point out a couple things. Let me start out with this: I am a Christian, have been for all my life, I Love God. I also love metal, of all kinds. I would like to say, FIRST OFF, contrary to popular belief, most death metal fans aren't devil worshippers. Death Metal has as much to do with Satan as any other genre. Yes, the album art work is more violent, but that doesn't mean anything. Those stories of kids worshipping the devil because of death metal and going on killing sprees are all FALSE. The Gov't looked into it. Second, stop hating on our music. It IS possible for a death metal band or black metal band to love God and Worship God. I am sick of the common misconception that we hate God and we are "Rebellious punks who need to stop listening to that shit." Its music, and, whether you like it or not, it affects people, just like Petra does, and Garth Brooks.

I think God does have a hand on the death metal music before their never used to be so many christian death metal bands now there is i like to look for new music that is safe for my ears and gives praise to Gods name i love the new modern christian death metal music cuz it will rip your face off it is intense.
I'm what you call "old school." That's why I still lean in the direction of the first three Mortification albums and Metanoia's "In Darkness Or In Light" (GREAT old school death metal album). If you like to mix some doom into your death, you can't go wrong with Paramaecium's "Exhumed Of The Earth" either.

Jho this site has some real intrest! I am a heavy hardcore Christ folower and I absolutly hate satan! Im very into spiritual warfare, and although my church is against christian metal, I think its a very powerfull tool to use against satan, I mean look at the reaction from the black metal bands when Horde came out, they recieved death threats, hate male etc. . . We are obviously pising off the satanic comunity and that is one thing that i love about christian metal ! I dont realy like christian death metal like I built the cross and thousand times repent, i like to be able to make out atleast some of the words without checking the lyrics, got nothing against it I mean rock on for Christ, just not my scene . . . I like more heavy metal, melodic metal, screamo, and black or white metal . . . Good christian bands you guys should check out are Living Sacrifice, Haste The Day, Underoath, Demon Hunter, Few Left Standing, Becoming The Archetype, Antestor, A Thousand Times Repent and As I Lay Dying- dont realy have christian lyrics but all the members are christian . . . I am a christian who listens to death metal and all that shit. But when I here people like who wrote this makes me sick. Death metal is just a genre of music not lyrics. Most deathmetal actually has meaning behind it. Black Metal is what gets crazy.

My dad is a preacher and I love metal. Whether it's Cradle of Filth or As I Lay Dying, I'll play it if I like it. I'm not one for actual comment and argument, but this controversial topic tends to piss me off. Music does not kill, brainwash, or tell people to kill. Stupid people do stupid things, and because their families don't ever want to think it's their sweet child's fault, they blame the music that child happens to listen to. At least, that's the way I see it. Seriously, the lyrics of some outspoken Satanic bands can make a person cringe, but never kill. I don't listen to some songs due to lyrics, but that goes for both Satanic and Christian bands. I have honestly lost respect for a band after finding out that they claim to be Christian. Some lyrics pass such judgment that I stop listening to a band completely. My parents could hear a song by Attack Attack, (which I know is nowhere near death metal, but the point still stands), and say "turn that Satan music off," or "I don't agree with your music." Here's my question: How do you disagree with lyrics you don't know? If they don't agree with that, my Dad should probably quit his job. Just sayin'.

On one side we should be true to our faith, but should keep an open mind on the other. So I would say proceed with caution because I listen to both, either religious or secular (dark stuff but not straight satanic). In case your faith is in jeopardy (due to offensive lyrics etc), pls make the right decision. Christians are easy targets of hypocrisy and intolerance, so we should set good examples continuously. It might be unfair for us sometimes, some people are welcome to curse Christ and God or other's faith, but when we make objections we're the narrow-minded. But that's okay cause in the end it's about love, pace anf forgiving.

That's where you're both wrong. Simply listening to satan worshiping music will not in the sense change you. Music cannot control you and tell you what to do or posses you. Music is not an entity in of itself. The reason kids and teens create these acts of violence and murder that everyone blames on the 'Music' is completely their own choice. Someone, for example, who may be an Atheist or someone who does not believe in God may listen to the music and start to think to themselves "this music is pretty awesome, I love the sound" And might not think anything of what the actual content is. At the same time there could be someone of the same religious state that can think, "Well if this is a religion I think I would like to be apart of it", the reason may be because they are a very hurting person inside and choose this over emotions or simply out of confusion of life, they may be confused on if there are such things as God and Satan and they are wanting to be apart of it. Now where the killing and destruction comes in is simple, if a Christian is to know that prayer is how to speak to God and that giving all of themselves to God's great will, than what do you suppose an Satanist thinks? If killing and destroying property is how they believe to get in contact with the being the believe in they will do it because that is their belief. Now, the other wrong part about this argument is Listening to Non-christian Music is not a, per-say, good thing to listen too. Especially aimed towards Satanic music. Of music that takes God's name in vein. The reason is that this closes out God all-together from your life. You are basically putting satan worshiping music before the great creator of the universe. God wants you to keep your mind clear from all things that are evil. Killing, anger and defying God's name are simply in a word, evil. Expecting to go farther with a relationship with God would be a pointless expectation if continuing to jam Secular music into your head all is your ideal plan for eachday. I'm not saying you can't enjoy good music. Just be aware of what you are listening too. And know it's affects.
Another few things to add to this, 1# Slipknot, in my opinion, fails to exceed value level, they to me don't have enough talent to be valued as a band and therefore I'm basically saying they suck. And 2#, just because your a christian and you swear, DOES NOT mean that you're not christians. Yes it is frowned apon as being a sin but it doesn't mean that " Oh if that guy swore then he must not truely be christian as he claims". No, this simply means they have sinned, but if they are claiming to be Christian and saying that they follow God, then nothing should be altered over speech issues.
Good points indeed Kemono but I would have to disagree about Slipknot although I won't listen to them because I don't agree with thier message I will say that thier first two albums were well written and deserving of a place in metal history. This site was created to expose people to extreme metal with a positive message, Christian or not I don't see how anyone would put up with the lyrics that are common in extreme metal that glorify murder, rape, racism, .... things that are unacceptable in any circle of society. Grow up, metal is a great form of music and we need more bands that take thier talents and write music with some depth instead of falling into the shallow "I'm so evil" stereotype because it gives metal heads a bad name.
Well like I said, we all have our opinions on who's a talented artist or who should be liked or who is real good. But anyways yes I agree with your point, we need more bands (Metal over all) to grow more into the state where they are aiming for the utmost talented sound and better messages in their music.
i as a christian do have to say i used to be non christian as all of us on this page once was but we were saved by the love of christ. i have to say that i think taht whatever music we listen to we are influenced by the music in some way, weather it be moods, ect. like i used to listen to Lamb Of God and i found that i was getting mad a whole lot easier than i used to. its like it was completely seperating me from Christ and it was killing me to live like that so i deleted all of my secular music off of my phone and started listening to As I lay Dying and Impending Doom and i started to feel alot happier and felt alot better than before i left Lamb Of God. thanks for reading this and God Bless you guys!
Lets just put it this way, blaming death metal is like blamming a gun for someone commiting suicide. the gun didnt jump up and be like BLAMM MOTHA FUCKA! even if he didnt have a gun he probably would have found some other way to do it. same with music, even if they didnt have the music that alledgedly made them do these things, they would have done it some other way.
Actually they have done studies on the psycalogical effects of different music. Country music listeners are much more likely to commit suicide and in one study mice that listed to only metal turned cannibalistic and ate each other.
